Breznatron Studios Website

Brian Bresnahan is the owner-operator of Breznatron Studios, a full service commercial and fine art photography company located on the sixth floor of Midway Studios in the Fort Point Neighborhood of Boston, MA. Brian Bresnahan’s background and continuing interest in the motion film industry, in which directors of photography are responsible for capturing a wide range of subject matter (including architecture, nature, people and products), has inspired him to continue practicing a wide array of photographic genres. This multi-discipline approach to photography inspires and improves Brian’s capability to provide imagery that not only achieves each client’s desired vision, but that also transcends that vision so as to achieve a more universal look and appeal. The Chilly Winds of Boston Blow

The Chilly Winds of Boston Blow.  As does the prospect of a soul that ceases to grow. Of a psyche with disingenuous ideologies in tow.

Fashion in our Likeness

Mannequin Fashion            mannequin-1987.jpg
Though a mannequin is manufactured in likeness to humanity, it is humanity that manufactures itself in likeness to it.

We look toward the mannequin for guidance- for information as to how we should look, feel and act.  Never mind that a mannequin has no brain (nor, often times, a head).

Mannequins exist in isolation.  There is no meaningful intimacy between them, each other and ourselves.  Perhaps that’s why they appear so apathetically melodramatic- they are begging for attention.  Yet, this is considered fashionable and is, therfore, socially desirable.

It is socially desirable to identify ourselves with mannequins- to become mannequins- without brains, or personality- isolated from all else, because it ‘looks good.”

Clash of Civilizations Music Project Photo

The “Clash of Civilizations” is a theory by Samuel P. Huntington (first published in a 1993 Journal of Foreign Affairs).  This theory states that, in a post cold-war era, societies will continuously clash against one other over disputes of religion and cultural purity [click here to view the Foreign Affairs article].  This theory has since been incorporated into several political ideologies and has influenced the foreign affairs of several countries.  While this theory is provocative and is applicable, in many instances, as a convenient (albeit simple) analysis of some foreign relations, it is also poses an obstacle to developing healthy relationships between societies in conflict with one another.

The Clash of Civilazations music project, produced by two Boston based composers (Milan Kovacev and Nikola Radan), is a talented antithesis to Huntington’s theory.  This project utilizes music as the language for engaging all societies and for disproving the myth that each is fundamentally different from the other.

As any honest attempt to understand another culture will consider that culture’s historical record, as well as its contemporary form, the Clash of Civilizations Music Project uses modern techniques to dissect the musical tradition of several ‘clashing’ societies in order to expose the true heart of collaboration between them.
